Today in Math, we did Number Of The Day, as usual. The Number of the Day is 7791.692. We also continue doing Probability.

Probability continued

Outcome means one possible result of a probability experiment.

Favourable outcome means a succesful result in a probability experiment.

Examples:

The tiles S, N, O, and W are placed in a bag. What is the probability of drawing a letter W from the bag?
Another way to write this question is P(W).

1. P(W) = favourable outcomes
over
possible outcomes

P(W) = 1/4

If they ask you in a sentence you must answer in a sentene too.
The probability of drawing a W is 1/4, 25%, or 1:4.

2. P(S or O) = favourable outcomes
over
possible outcomes

P(S or O) = 2/4

You always need to simplify your answer.

P(S or O)= 1/2

P(S or O) =1/2, 25%, or 1:2

Homework:

The letters M, O, U, N, T, A, I, N are in a bag.

A. Probability of drawing a letter N

B. P(consenants)

C. P(letter)

Today in Math, we did "Number Of The Day" as usual. Today's Number of the Day is 9876.123.

Today we're in a new unit. Our next unit is called "Probability". Probability is the likelihood or chance of an event occurring.

1. Favourable Outcomes means what we want to happen.

Possible Outcomes means what might happen.

Probability can be expressed as a Ratio, Fraction, or Percent.

Example: Ratio Farction Percent
1:2 1/3 40%

More Types of Probability:

Earth reaching Absolute zero! This is an example of Impossible Outcome or event.

Impossible Outcome mean is when you are sure that event is not gonna happen.

People will always watch television whenever they're bored. This is an example of Certain Outcome or event.

We might find aliens in the future! If your Not sure of something.

Homework:

Put a letter on top of the number line where you think it would go.

What is the probability...

A. ...flipping a coin and landing on heads?

B. ...with 1 normal six sided die, you roll an 8?

C. ...a bag contains 8 red markers and you reach into the bag and pull out 1 red marker?

D. You spin a spinner with four equal sections marked chocolate, fruit, yogurt and ice cream. What is the probability of the pointer stopping on the fruit?

E. A bag contains letters, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H. What is the probability that you can pull out the letter H?

F. A bag has 3 gold marbles and 1 silver marble. What is the probability that you can pull out the silver marble?

G. What is the probability that the next baby born in Winnipeg is a boy?

Probability of spinning A.

Probability of spinning a vowel.

Probability of spinning Q.

I think this was homework too.

Discover the value of each shapes. The total weight is 77.

P.S.

Sorry because I didn't do the Friday's blog because I have Tonsilitis.

I choose Laura for the next scribe post. Thank you for checking my scribe please leave a comment.
