Today in class we did more PROBABILITY.
Here are some of the exercises that we did during class:
a) Choose a student from grade 7 and choose a student from grade 8.
Are these choices DEPENDANTor INDEPENDENT on each other?
They are independent. Because the person you choose from grade 7 has no effect on the person you choose from grade 8. Therefore they are independent.
b) Choose one marble from a bag, then without replacing it, choose a second marble from the same bag.
Are these choices dependant or independent on each other? They are dependant because once you have chosen one marble from the bag, you have one less marble to chose from when you pick your second one. They have an effect on each other, therefore they dependant.
When figuring out if the choices you are making are dependant or independent on each other, the question you should as yourself is:DOES THE FIRST THING I DO, CHANGE THE SECOND THING I DO?
If the answer is YES, that means that they are DEPENDANT.
If the answer is NO, that means that they are INDEPENDENT.
HOMEWORK:
Make sure you know how to do a tree diagram, and a chart to find the sample space of probability problems.
Make sure that number of the day is finished: today's number was 7835.621
Don't forget TLE tomorrow!
(Please leave your comments and don't be afraid to point out any mistakes I have made so that next time I can do better!)
I choose Caitlin for the next scribepost. :)

scribepost for march 9 2009
Today in class. We did more probability.
We did some qeustions and notes about probablity.
Notes:
Sample space is the set of all possible outcomes of a random proccess.
Independent events is the outcomeof one event has no effect on the outcome
of another event.
Tree diagram is adiagram used to organized outcome.
-Contains a branch for each possible outcome of an event.
Questions:
What si the probablity of rolling a prime number with a regular die
Answer:1/2 or 50% or 1:2
find the probability of rolling two sixes in a row with a regular die.
Answer: 1/36
Probability of landing a coin on heads and rolling an odd number.
Answer:1/4 or 25% or 1:4
ENJOY!
HOPE YOU LIKE IT............I PICK LAURA TO DO THE NEXT SCRIBEPOST.

Today in math class we started of with number of the day, as usual. The number of the day is 8394.162. Make sure you do
number of the day everyday if you do not finish in class.
Then After that Mr.Isfeld told us to do math links textbooks on page 398 to 400. It was mostly about Algebra and mental math. If you do not know already here are some examples of how to do an algebraic question :
Answer : R - 3 + 3 = 7 10 - 3 = 7
R - 3 + 3 = 7 + 3 7 = 7 R = 10
Now here are some examples of the math link textbook answer. (random questions answered)
#2. S + 12 =20
S + 12 - 12 = 20 - 12
#5 a) b + 11 = 14
3 + 11 = 14
The solution is b = 3
#6 a) 3 b) 8 c) 4

After we did those questions, we did some other questions, harder questions. First Mr. Isfeld wanted to show us how to answer them,
The question looked like this;
59=5x+6x+4
The first step is to, combine the 5x and 6x to get 11x then your question will now look like this,
59=11x+4
Then from there, you subtract 4 from both sides, and now it looks like this,
55=11x
Now this last part is easy;
11x/11=x
55/11=5
So x=5,
Now you verify,
59=5x+6x+4
59=5(5)+6(5)+4
59=25+30+4
59=59
THERE I HOPE YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT I JUST TAUGHT !
I PICK ELVIN TO DO THE NEXT SCRIBEPOST !
P.S. My computer is different then most, and i didnt have time to change the color on my other computer,
so maybe next time I can make a better scribepost with way more color, and better designs...

Scribepost for February 17, 2009
Today in class, we started off with number of the day, as usual.
Then we started a balancing act that looked like this:

Then we corrected it in class with Mr. Isfeld. Here are the answers:

After that we did algebra equations.
4m-6-2m+2=m+2
m=6
Verify:
4m-6-2m+2=m+2
4(6)-6-2(6)+2=6+2
24-6-12+2=8
18-12+2=8
6+2=8
8=8
Write and solve the following equation :
Six less than three times a number is twenty four.
3n-6=24
3n-6+6=24+6
3n=30
n=10
Verify:
3n-6=24
3(10)-6=24
30-6=24
24=24
We didn't have any homework today and I choose Noelle for the next scribe post.

Scribepost for January 30, 2009

Today we discussed about Algebra.. for example.
1) a+1=2
what's happening at the A?
-it is being added by 1.
The next step is,
you make the equation balanced, to make it balanced you put the opposite number beside itself. like this
a+1-1=2
The next step is..
what you did before you have to do it again beside the answer, like this.
a+1-1=2-1
The next step is..
you now subtract 2 and 1 and now you got the answer for this question
a= 1
now you verify..
a+1=2
1+1=2
2=2
HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND IT.(I TRIED MY BEST)
PLEASE COMMENT :)
I PICK CAITLIN FOR THE NEXT SCRIBE.

Congrats to All of You! :D

Great job you guys!
It has only been 2 days since you were taught how to use Blogger (better), and you guys are using those notes pretty fast. It's also nice to see that a lot of people are leaving comments behind. Keep it up! If you do, we'll hopefully see more visitors checking out our blog (by looking at the Cluster Map). I'm sure that Mr. Isfeld and Mr. Harbeck are also very proud of you all.
Keep up all the great work!

Scribe Post for January 14
I am going to show you how to publish a blog.
First off you must put the title. The title is (Scribe Post and The Date). The next thing you do is put the label. Your label must have your user name and then type scribe post with a comma separating them. Example: Connor742,scribepost.
Adding a Link:
First you need to copy the address of your web site. Then you will need to highlight the word/s that you want the link to leed to. When your done that, click the GREEN button at the top that says link. Then paste the address and press OK. It should look like this.
.:Math:.
Adding a Image:
Find an image and save it somewhere you can find. The click the little mountain type picture on the toolbar. You then need to click browse. You will see a bunch of files,look for where you saved the picture, then click on it, then click open. When you do that click upload photo and the picture will show up. You can move the picture once you have placed it.

Adding a Video:
You will need to go find a video on you tube. Then highlight the embed and copy it. Then go to the edit html button at the bottom of you text and paste the embed. After you can go back to your normal text by pressing the 'Compose' button.
Editing your text:
To colour your text you will need to click the rainbow button on the toolbar. Don't use YELLOW or any BRIGHT colors you wont be able to see. Making your text bigger or smaller is easy just highlight the text you want and click the button with the two T's. Then click the size you want, it could be BIG or SMALL. If you want it to stick out more you can press the 'b' for Bold or the 'i' for Italics.
Spell Check:
The spell check is a must do, but it is very simple all you must do is click the ABC button on the toolbar. It will show you what words you might have misspelled. When you done click on the 'Done Spell Checking' button.
Save:
This is the most important part of making a scribe post. So now we click the SAVE NOW button. Sometimes it will auto save. It tells you when it auto saved beside the Save Now bar.
When Your Done:
Once your done put:
I choose (Whoever hasn't done it yet) for the next scribe.
Thank you for checking my scribe please leave a Comment.
Comments:
After you are done making your scribe leave a Comment on someone else's. Make sure the comment is a good one not just a simple good job.
I choose Richard for the next slide.
